Habitat was launched in London by Sir Terence Conran in 1964, giving shoppers a new way to buy contemporary, stylish homeware and accessories. The brand has struggled through a number of corporate changes since launch, and is now part of the Sainsburys Group which also includes Argos. Many of Habitat’s popular products are showcased in Argos catalogues, including Habitat cushions, lamps, desks, and colourful kitchen accessories. Since being acquired by Sainsburys, Habitat has opened new outlets in popular locations and now owns 17 flagship stores three of which are in London.
